Mustache Marathon Movie 6: Three Men and a Baby

Ted Danson, Tom Selleck, and Steve Guttenburg star in Three Men and a Baby, the sixth movie in my Mustache Movie Marathon.  That’s a winning combination right there, right?  Especially when teamed up with director Leonard Nimoy, right?  I am not so sure anymore.

I was extremely bored throughout this movie.  I think it is with reason.  I thought the whole three men dealing with a baby thing plot going to be humorous.  What I got was an attempt to pull on my heartstrings by having three men fall deeply in love with a baby that they’d only known for a matter of days and which was only related to one of them.  I’ve never had a baby and haven’t been around one in years so I don’t know if I’d have the same feelings.  But it seemed much too quick for the two that weren’t related to the baby.

I expected more baby humour out of Three Men and a Baby but only got a little bit of baby humour.  In this respect, I was disappointed.  That isn’t what took me right out of the movie though.  There was an attempt to make the three men funny that wasn’t working for me.  The humour wasn’t in the baby, it was in the three men.  But the three men weren’t all that funny.  Even the Gutte.  Normally I would love to see Steve in a movie.  This time, whatever he was doing fell flat, in my eyes, if he didn’t have a puppet in or on his hand.

This might just be a personal gripe with the movie.  I’m not sure.  I just didn’t like it so much.  I was bored.

Tom Selleck is in Three Men and a Baby.  That’s how it fits into the marathon.  He has a mustache.  He has one of the most recognizable mustaches in the business.  He’s Magnum PI.  Who doesn’t know his full upper lip ‘stache?  It’s bushy, bold, and dare I say beautiful.  Tom Selleck is a facial hair god.

I’m really out of things to say.  The movie did not interest me in any way outside of the puppet.  It’s a movie of the 80s and it should stay that way.

There are three more movies to watch in this marathon, and I think I'm going to watch them in the following order.  First up with be the classic Pink Panther, not the Steve Martin remake.  Following that, I will delve into the movie career of Hulk Hogan with a little film called Mr. Nanny.  I'll be finishing off the marathon with There Will Be Blood starring the always great DDL.  Stay tuned for that stuff.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Season 2, Episode 8: The Power Stealer

Last time we sat down with the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers , Tommy was going through some serious stuff.   His powers were running low because Lord Zedd was targeting him.   He felt hopeless.   His friends were comforting him.   There was also a Robo Goat trying to take a powerful sword and use it against the Earth.   There were fights all over the place and an emotional hook that was unmatched in any episode that wasn’t in a multi-part arc. This episode, there might be follow-up to the Tommy storyline.   It would be nice to see more of the struggle with his powers.   Right now, that’s the one throughline that has been playing out.   II hope this episode continues to have some sort of meaning to the overall story, instead of being a self-contained and meaningless.   The show needs to grow and evolve, with a storyline that builds to something significant.   Having episodes that keep the story at a standstill is boring.   The story needs to move forward.   Will this episode d

Animated movies have been a large fixture throughout cinematic history.   There is currently an Academy Award category devoted entirely to animated features.   They are an important part of the cinematic landscape.   Movies would be completely different if not for the animated films that have been popular throughout the past century.
